How to Make Small Spaces feel big

Just because a room is small, doesn’t mean it has to stay that way. Here’s some of our top tips for making your small spaces feel bigger.

Mirrors – With more light and double the space, well placed mirrors will really help change a room’s atmosphere.

Colour overload – Try to avoid busy patterns or too many colours in a small space. Instead focus on only one or two feature colours or patterns, complimented with lighter colours – ideally white.

Wall mounting – A big mistake when placing furniture in a small room is using up floorspace when the item could be wall mounted.

Lights, lamps, shelving and televisions can all be mounted and will keep you limited space free for other essentials.

Scale-down – When furnishing a small space, it’s important to get the scale right. An oversized coffee-table with a small two-seater longue won’t work if you aretight for space.

Remove Clutter – Try to minimize the number of items you have visible of tables, desks, benches etc.

Perhaps some clever storage options will help you minimize what is seen but allow items to be accessible.

Never block a walkway – No matter how tempting it might be, it’s never a good idea to block a walkway with furniture or items.
