B: When was Splendour in Stone started?

Splendour in Stone was started in 2016. Previously I was a Stonemason working on the tools installing the stone. I was inspired by travelling which led me to the idea of starting a supply company.

B: What were your inspirations to the business?

J: In 2008 I went on a tour to some of the homes of the Great Wonders of the World including the Pyramids of Giza, Machu Picchu in Peru and Angkor Wat. These places were a great inspiration to me. The years, history and culture about it inspired me and led me down the path of Natural Stone.

B: Where are all the Stones in your storeroom from?

J: We import from all over the world; mostly out of Italy and Turkey. But if people have custom orders we can basically source from anywhere. But largely throughout Europe.

B: What area of the home would you use the stone?

J: Anywhere you need a feature wall, such as a fireplace, house facades, retaining walls even just a feature wall in the dining room. He’s also includes detain spaces, pooling options, outdoor entertaining spaces, basically anywhere.

B: Who are the companies or people you supplied to?

J: We supply to a lot of different people, architects, builders, typical home owners and in more recent times we fitted out Kathmandu‘s Marquee Flagship store’s in New Zealand which was which was a great working partnership and hopefully we can do more work with those guys. Anyone from homeowners who walk in off the street looking for a feature wall to big commercial projects, we service.
